Positioning in the face of AGI
It's abundantly clear that AGI is coming. Whether it will be in the form of a singular god-model or not, the LLM architecture, catapulted forward by trillions in cumulative investment, is enough. We are coming upon the singularity. And needless to say, many are becoming wealthy beyond measure.
What then, ought the ambitious individual strive toward? Say, someone cognizant enough to be aware of this step-wise change, but also not personally exposed to this immense equity value appreciation?
I would implore them to drop everything. Move to SF. Fly to the eye of the storm. Get involved. Build a reputation. And do, not good, not great, but excellent work. The money will follow. It always does.
The arc of history, across civilizations, can be distilled into "not being short technology." And for the last twenty years, in the modern and very narrow definition of technology being software, the value investors have known this to be painfully true. A costly mistake driven by ideological ignorance.
But the shape of this technology curve is unlike any before. The information revolution of the internet, mobile, and cloud waves was but a mere ripple in the wake of what is to come. The intelligence revolution will be a tsunami.
